Last weekend the new Praytome Publishing book "My Years With Elvis & The
Colonel" by author Charles Stone was presented to the Elvisworld. In the
back of the book you find information and the very first illustration of the
upcoming Multimedia Box Set "Dixieland Delight" by Bud Glass.
This set will soon become a true collector's item and will be manufactured
in the well-known quality that Praytome Publishing is famous for. We spared
no efforts to make this the definitive package to document the 5 sold out
shows in Huntsville, AL in 1975.
About 4 years ago, when author Bud Glass came up with the idea for a book /
dvd combo about these shows, nobody knew at that time that so much
information and pictures would show up. So there was only one way to do it
right - to expand the book into a great Multimedia Box Set. It's been a lot
of work since then and the closer we get to the day of its release, the more
excited the team members of Bud Glass Productions and Praytome Publishing
get.
As announced previously, the box set consists of 4 different releases and
will be released in 4 different steps.
You have to come back to
www.epgold.com & the official website
www.praytome-publishing.com to check for the announcement of the
final release date for this set.
OPEN: Saturday &
Sunday 04 & 05 July 2009 - 1300. PM - 1800 PM.

The new “Black Angels in Vegas” set will be released within two weeks.
The concert will be more complete than the previous “Night Fever in Vegas”
release by Rock Legends.
The sound is also a lot better because a different tape has been used.

Publisher Gregor
Retkowski and Ad van Kuijk (nephew of Colonel Parker) present the latest
Praytome Publishing book "My Years With Elvis And The Colonel" by author
Charles Stone
The weekend to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Colonel's birthday
is over. This event took place in Breda / The Netherlands, the hometown of
Elvis Presley's manager. More than 11.000 visitors attended the event which
was organized by Elvis Matters. (For more information about the event check
www.colonelparker.info)
Members of the Praytome Publishing Team from Germany were invited to present
the latest project, the book "My Years With Elvis & The Colonel" by author
Charles Stone. This is definitively the very first book about "Elvis & The
Colonel" that is written by a guy who was there. The storyline is based on
Charles' memories, unlike previous Colonel books that were based on false
assumptions and fabricated stories told by a third party.
We felt very honored when we were able to present the book to Ad van Kuijk,
the nephew of Colonel Parker (see picture). A lot of people came to the
booth of "Praytome Publishing" to have conversations with the members of the
team and there were a lot of questions about upcoming projects, especially
about the next product which is going to be the Multimedia Box Set
"Dixieland Delight" by Bud Glass.
ElvisMatters also had invited author Sue McCasland from Las Vegas to talk
about her Elvis' experiences. Sue attended more than 200 Elvis shows in the
1970's and also has been to the engagements at Lake Tahoe. Sue's second book
entitled "Elvis Presley live at Del Webb's Sahara Tahoe - World's Best Kept
Secret" was released in 2008 by Praytome Publishing.
A lot of people kept her busy by asking and interviewing her about Elvis and
of course people wanted to have her book signed. The book signing and the
presentation of the new book by author Charles Stone were 2 out of 22
different activities during this 4day event.

The label Audionics will
release soon the CD " SOMETHING " featuring the August 11, 1970 dinner show.
This is the last release from that series linked to Elvis’ third and very
successful season in Las Vegas.
" SOMETHING " will be the first release of this show in FULL STEREO sound,
and very much in the same quality as our previous two STEREO outings.
It will be presented in a beautiful 3-panel digipack with a 16 page booklet
and accompanying photographs taken from the actual show, the next dinner
show and additional candids .
All the shows recorded during his first week were highly entertaining and "
SOMETHING " is no different. Our last release of those August 1970
recordings is SOMETHING not to be missed !!

This is James Burton sending
all of you a personal invitation to my International Guitar Festival on
August 21 and 22 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
This is going to be a very special year. It's a tribute to Elvis. During the
event, we will also be attempting to break the Guiness World Record for the
most guitar players playing the same song at the same time.
So I need all of you guistarists to join me in playing "That's Alright Mama"
and "Hound Dog" on Elvis Presley Avenue in front of Elvis' statue at 2:00 PM
on August 22. That evening at 7:00 PM, we will be performing on the very
stage that Elvis kick started his career and is the historical landmark
where Elvis first met Colonel Parker.
I would also like to invite you to help me celebrate my 70th birthday with a
Birthday Bash on Friday night, August 21 starting at 6:00 PM.
Visit my web site at
www.JamesBurtonMusic.com for times,
locations and festival details.
You've gotta be here and be part of this!

Step back in time to 1969 and explore Elvis’ dressing room backstage at the
International Hotel while he is on stage performing.
Look through his stage
costumes on the rack, flip through a scrapbook the Colonel has put together,
check out the pictures on his mirror, read some of his telegrams, see what’s
on the tv and much more.
Cost is only $1.99 to get access to this virtual online backstage experience
for 24-hours.

David Lynch is well known for being an Elvis fan. You can see Nicholas Cage
(right) play a lizard-skin Elvis in his great film 'Wild At Heart'. Lynch
has a distinctive filmmaking style that includes meticulously crafted sound
design so it’s no surprise that his picks include some of the greatest
musicians of all time. Of his five key songs he recently chose Elvis'
'That's All Right' was number 1.
David Lynch, "It's almost a cruel show you have going. It's impossible to
pick five songs but I picked this song as a first.
This was when.. Elvis Presley was nobody. Sun Records, Sam Phillips was down
the street and he made friends with the receptionist, she knew he wanted to
sing, he couldn't get arrested. And one day, a guitar player and a bass
player booked the place for the weekend and they said to Sam, maybe you know
a singer who could come in and we'll just fiddle around. And he called
Elvis. So, they spent the morning singing gospel.
If I was shooting this scene, I'd start a slow dolly in on Elvis' face,
because history was about to made. He gets up clowning around singing this
song, "That's All Right Mama," immediately the bass player jumps up starts
slapping this bass. A second later, Sam comes running down the hallway and
says ‘what’s going on’ and it changed the course of time."

Despite the bizarre timing of the FTD release of the same concert the
Audionics release of Elvis as recorded live in the International Hotel
showroom August 13th, 1970, Dinner Show is becoming hard to find.
The sleeve design is as usual impressive - opposite some cover scans.
'Stranger In The Crowd' is different kind of release - whole show is in FULL
STEREO sound, taken from original mastertape.
This release comes in a beautiful 3-panel digipack, with 16-page full color
booklet.
Most of accompanying photographs were taken during August 13, 1970 dinner
show, with few additional candid shots from August 1970.

The funeral of pop star Michael Jackson, who died unexpectedly on Thursday
at the age of 50, could be larger than those of Elvis Presley and Princess
Diana with as many as a million people expected to travel to Los Angeles to
remember the "king of pop".
The singer died of a heart attack on Thursday afternoon. However there are
still questions about the cause of the heart attack and which drugs (if any)
the singer was taking that may have contributed to his death.
Police in Los Angeles are preparing for a huge influx of people to the city
for the funeral with one LA police chief saying, "We are preparing for an
event of historic proportions. We will be cooperating closely with the
family once they have decided to hold the funeral," reports the Daily Mail.
The family of Michael Jackson met at the weekend to discuss whether to hold
a large scale public funeral or a private ceremony with a public memorial
service later on. They are also considering whether or not to bury his body
on his Neverland ranch.
Michael Jackson wished to be buried there, although he had not lived at the
ranch since 2005 when he was cleared of child molestation charges. The idea
is allegedly popular with the owners of the mortgage on the property as it
could turn the ranch into a centre of tourism that could help pay off
Jackson's substantial debts.
Since he left the property Neverland has fallen into disrepair.
Burying the singer at Neverland could make the place similar to Graceland,
the home and final resting place of Elvis Presley, whose funeral in 1977
drew 80,000 people. In 1997 the funeral of Princess Dianna drew a quarter of
a million mourners. With a million people expected to attend Jackson's
funeral is expected to be unprecedented in size.
The funeral is expected to be attended by stars such as Paul McCartney,
Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli, Brooke Shields, Madonna, Justin Timberlake,
Britney Spears and Lisa Marie Presley.

We all know that with the passing of Colonel Parker in 1997, not only the
person of Colonel Parker was gone forever, but also gone were all of his
memories. During his lifetime, neither 'the Colonel' nor his right-hand man,
Tom Diskin wrote a book about the times with Elvis.
Even though Elvis has been dead for more than thirty-one years now, Elvis
fans still hunger for more and detailed background information - especially
about the concert years.
Charles Stone, who was born November 8, 1943, and grew up in Wichita Falls,
Texas, didn't know, when he started to work for Concerts West, that one day
he would work with Colonel Parker and the Elvis entourage.
Still 'Taking Care Of Business' in the Elvis world, tour producer, Charles
Stone, shares his memories with Elvis fans worldwide. As tour producer for
the Elvis Presley Tours in the 1970's, Charles Stone also worked closely
with Colonel Tom Parker.
His inside view of the business details of the Colonel and how to manage and
handle the Elvis deals was something special. Charles was one of the few
members who was inducted into the Colonel’s "Snowman's League" - a
mysterious accommodation of the Colonel.
Along with Charles' memories, the book will present a number of private
shots of Elvis on stage, a look “behind the wall" at the Colonel's private
home in Palm Springs, rare shots of the sound systems, speakers and mixing
boards taken and contributed by sound engineer, Bruce Jackson, and, of
course, paperwork.
For the very first time, Charles Stone opens his original tour books,
showing you reprinted documents and paperwork that gives you an inside view
as you have never before had into the details of how the tours were produced
and how things were arranged.
The rare pictures, along with the paperwork that has never before been seen,
will give you a new perspective and a close-up look at how the Elvis Tours
were produced.
This is definitively the very first book about "Elvis & The Colonel" that is
written by a guy who was there. The storyline is based on Charles' memories,
unlike previous Colonel books that were based on false assumptions and
fabricated stories told by a third party.
Note:
Praytome told Elvis Unlimited that the most talked about photos in the book
are those provided by Bruce Jackson of the set up of the venue and stage
area. This book has exclusive stories about Charles' personal relationship
with the Colonel.
In this book, you get a much
more personal look at the Colonel than in any other book ever written about
the Colonel.
You can read a full review of this book in the one of the next issues of
Elvis Unlimited.
